Demi Lovato has lived through more in 20 years than most of us experience in a lifetime–and yet while other Disney stars’ flames burn out before they reach college, the “Heart Attack” singer’s is stronger than ever; not only did she have a chart-topping hit this spring, but she also made her primetime debut as a judge onThe X-Factor. In our Music Issue, on newsstands now, our executive editor Ashley Baker chatted with Lovato about the pitfalls of fame–and why you shouldn’t expect to see her in aSpring Breakers-esque movie anytime soon. “Once I went into rehab, it was kind of like, ‘Well, that image is over,’ and there is not much I could really do about that, which was terrifying,” she said of her much-publicized scandal several years ago. “I though, I might as well talk so I don’t have to worry about things coming out later.”" Source: Nylon Mag Posted on Jun 10, 2013 by Grace in Headlines News
Demi Lovato has praised Selena Gomez and Nick Jonas for supporting her during her stint in rehab and ongoing recovery. The ‘X Factor’ USA judge checked in to a treatment facility to help her overcome her struggles with bulimia and self-harming in 2010, and credits her family and friends for helping her get through her darkest days. The 20-year-old star told Italian network Televisionet.tv: ”I ended up having to go through some stuff. Fortunately I have family and friends around me that are very very supportive of me and my recovery and everything I stand for. ”Nick especially. Demi Lovato is not one to shy away from speaking the truth. In a new interview with ‘Rolling Stone’ magazine, the singer opens up about her experience in rehab, her suicide contract, and wanting to be just like Rihanna. Demi Lovato often speaks candidly about her stint in rehab and struggles with bipolar disorder, bulimia and cutting. But news that Demi looked up to another famous celebrity – Rihanna – was a bit surprising! Demi also told Rolling Stone magazine that she was suicidal at the age of seven, and was even forced to sign a suicide contract! “The principal called my parents and made me sign this suicide contract saying that I would not kill myself. They weren’t expecting that so young,” the star told the mag. When Demi released her third album, Unbroken, it was met with mixed reviews. Some people complained about the hip-hop that seemed to be interwoven in some of the songs and were confused by how different her new music was. Now, we know why! In an excerpt from the interview with Rolling Stone, she told the magazine, “I wanted to be like Rihanna. But I had to learn that wasn’t me.” Demi definitely learned from her past mistakes. When her fourth album, Demi, was released on May 14, 2013, it was clear that it was written and inspired by her own experiences. The album was much more well received and you could tell how personal all of the music was to her, a far cry from when the star was trying to be someone else. Before achieving back-to-back radio hits with “Give Your Heart a Break” and “Heart Attack,” Demi Lovato wondered why she had yet to find her breakthrough on the radio. She knew she had a big voice and had found success as a Disney Channel star, but something was off. “I had a moment where I was just like, ‘What am I doing wrong? I know I can sing. I know I’m talented. How is it that other artists who don’t have my vocals … (are) on the radio? What’s taking so long?’ ” she said in a recent interview. “And I realized, ‘Oh, it’s hit songs. You need hit songs.’ “ So, Lovato went into the studio and recorded songs crafted perfectly for Top 40 radio. “Demi,” her fourth album, debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart last month. It features upbeat, radio-friendly dance numbers and pop ballads about love and relationships. “We didn’t want to put a song on there that was an album filler, so we don’t have any songs on there that couldn’t be potential singles,” the 20-year-old Lovato said of “Demi,” which features producers and songwriters like Ryan Tedder (Adele, Beyonce), Priscilla Renea (Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Madonna), and Carl Falk, Rami Yacoub and Savan Kotecha, the trio behind hits for One Direction. (Falk and Yacoub co-produced Nicki Minaj’s “Starships” and Kotecha co-wrote Maroon 5′s “One More Night” and Justin Bieber’s “Beauty and a Beat.”) Lovato got her first real hint of radio love when “Give Your Heart a Break” became a hit last year as she was appearing as a judge on the Fox network’s “The X Factor.” The song was from her 2011 album, “Unbroken,” released months after she left rehab for an eating disorder, self-mutilation and other issues. Though she had a Top 10 hit with “Skyscraper,” the first single, “Give Your Heart a Break,” became her breakthrough, selling 1.9 million tracks. • Read full story… Posted on Jun 02, 2013 by Grace in Headlines News
Demi Lovato, who left rehab in 2011 after checking in to beat an eating disorder, has claimed that her fans helped with her recovery. In an interview on BBC Radio 1, the 20-year-old singer admitted that she has struggled to stay healthy since leaving the rehab, the Mirror reported. Lovato said that whenever she has struggled and thought about going back to bad habits like anyone that struggles with an eating disorder, there’s been times when she has contemplated what she is really doing. “Do I really have a problem and then I think to myself, ‘Yeah, my fans are holding me accountable and I have to stay strong for them,’” she said. Lovato, who looked healthy and happy when she took to the stage to perform on Britain’s Got Talenton Thursday night, said that she believes her honesty has enabled her to get on in her career and get closer to her fans. The X Factor USA host also gave advice to her fans, who may be going through similar problems, by saying that the first step in getting help is just admitting that you have a problem and then telling them about it. She said that one should reach out to someone whether it’s a friend or a family member or anybody who can help you get better. Lovato added saying that if you feel like you’re in danger then you have to tell someone immediately. Source: DNA India Posted on Jun 02, 2013 by Grace in Headlines News
US X Factor judge Demi Lovato has joked that she knows the secrets of Simon Cowell’s hair… and not just those relating to the locks on his head. Appearing on Channel 4′s Chatty Man tonight, the 20-year-old also revealed that the sight of the talent show supremo’s “bush” is so compelling, she has never even noticed his “moob area”. “Simon’s shirt is always open,” she says. “One more [button] and it will be [open to] his belly button. It is getting dangerous.” She continued: “I have never looked at his chest, his moob area. I am distracted by the bush on his chest.” The Heart Attack singer went on to comically ponder whether Simon’s mop – as well as his chest rug – may actually be fake, because it is so well-behaved. • Read full story… Posted on May 30, 2013 by Grace in Headlines News
DEMI LOVATO has opened up about her previous eating disorder, revealing that it’s the thought of her fans that prevents her from slipping up during her recovery. The 20-year-old star opened up about her troubles to Scott Mills in an interview on Radio One yesterday, admitting that she has struggled at times during her recovery since going into rehab in 2010. “My fans have helped me in many ways,” she said on air. “One, because whenever I have struggled and thought about going back to bad habits like anyone does that struggles with an eating disorder, there’s been times when I have contemplated what am I really doing.” “Do I really have a problem and then I think to myself yeah my fans are holding me accountable and I have to stay strong for them,’ she added. The X Factor USA judge – who looked cute in a black skirt and leather jacket – was greeted by a crowd of fans who congregated outside the central London offices. Taking the time to greet her fans, the star was in great spirits as she chatted away to some of them – signing merchandise as she went along. • Read full story… American singer-songwriter and Free The Children supporter, Demi Lovato, opens up her closet again for an online auction organized by DEMI LOVATO Charity Boutique and partner eBay Giving Works.
