Rumors are swirling that Demi Lovato will be taking a seat at the judge’s table on the next season of “The X Factor.” And while she might not seem like an obvious choice, here are five reasons why Lovato would make the perfect “X Factor” judge.

1. She’s a Seasoned Pro

Even though she’s only 19 years old, Lovato is a seasoned pro. She made her TV debut in 2002, at the age of nine, on “Barney and Friends.” But it was the 2008 made for TV movie “Camp Rock,” that catapulted her to stardom. Her lead role on “Sonny with a Chance” from 2009 to 2011, just added to her fan appeal. If anyone knows the focus required to follow one’s dreams, it’s Lovato.

2. She’s Got Musical Chops

When Lovato released her debut album called “Don’t Forget” in 2008, it debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart. And it ultimately was certified gold. Never ceasing to outdo herself, her sophomore outing, “Here We Go,” premiered at number one. While her follow up, “Unbroken,” only made it to number four, Lovato has more than proven herself to be a successful recording artist. And she’s not done. Album number four is allegedly underway.

3. She’s Got a Good Heart

Among her many charitable affiliations, Lovato is incredibly active with the Disney Friends for Change effort. The organization’s mission is “to inspire kids and families to make a difference in their world by taking actions to help people, their communities and the planet.” She even joined fellow Disney alum the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez to record the theme song for the organization called, “Send it On.” Lovato has also backed other altruistic causes including St. Jude Children’s Hospital and City of Hope.

4. She’s Overcome Adversity

Lovato has not been shy about sharing her difficult experiences over the years. She’s admitted to being the target of bullying in junior high. The taunting that she was fat and ugly was one of the factors that led to her eating disorder. Lovato entered a facility in 2010 to treat her bulimia and self-injury issues. Rather than hide the truth, Lovato made a documentary for MTV called “Stay Strong.” The film chronicled her ongoing journey for self-improvement.

5. She’s the Comeback Kid

After all the highs and lows, Lovato seems poised to make a major TV comeback and “The X Factor” is the perfect place to start. It will expose her to a whole new, non-Disney, more gown up audience. And if the rumors that former-child star Britney Spears is going to fill the other vacant judge’s seat are true, she’ll have a kindred spirit to bond with.

Britney Spears is hoping that teen queen Demi Lovato will become a fellow judge on Simon Cowell’s X Factor, because Spears thinks Lovato is inspirational and believes they would have great chemistry on the show, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

As previously reported, Team Spears recently signed the contract to become a judge on X Factor. The pop music icon will be paid $15 million dollars a year, and her fiancé, Jason Trawick will be on set with her for filming.

Cowell still needs to fill the remaining two judges’ positions since he fired Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul after the music mogul was disappointed with the ratings from the first season. • Read full story »

As the countdown to Season 2 of The X Factor winds down, the fourth judge is falling into place. The Hollywood Reporter has learned that pop star Demi Lovato is closing a deal to join Britney Spears in the seats vacated by Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul after Season 1.

Although the deal is not yet done and could fall apart, sources say Lovato’s team is in final negotiations for the job.

THR had previously heard that the final judge would be a brunette, and the choice of the former Disney Channel star certainly fits that criteria.

X Factor creator and star Simon Cowell is particular about the casting of his judge panels. More importantly, at 19, Lovato would bring with her a younger audience (her current single, “Give Your Heart a Break,” which she recently performed on American Idol, is No. 74 on the Billboard Hot 100). Spears, while still a force in pop music, is 10 years older than Lovato. Returning judge and Epic Records chairman L.A. Reid rounds out the panel. • Read full story »

You wouldn’t know it from our photos, but Demi Lovato loathes having her picture taken. As professional as the 19-year-old singer is at striking a pose, her relief is palpable once it’s over.

“I felt uncomfortable today,” she admits. “Knowing I have bad angles and the photographer can take a bad shot makes me insecure. But I’m a lot better than I used to be. In my first shoot after having treatment, I went into meltdown and ran away from the studio. So I’ve made progress.”

That’s a major understatement. This is the girl, after all, who first found fame as an American TV actress when she was just seven years old. By 15 she was a pop star, billed as Disney’s successor to Miley Cyrus’ teen-queen crown.

Yet behind the beaming smile and beautiful voice, Demi, like so many child stars before her, was self-destructing.

Bulimia – which she’d suffered from since the age of 12 – ravaged her body, and then there was the drink, reported cocaine abuse, depression and self-harm.

Then, in November 2010, she had a very public meltdown. After punching a backing dancer on a plane during a tour, Demi was admitted to rehab for three months. There followed a further six months when she was so disillusioned by the industry, she considered quitting. • Read full story »

The rumor about a duet with Demi Lovato and Justin Bieber, commented a few months ago, is unfounded, according to the singer. Asked about the partnership during an interview with the English program “T4,” she evaded. ”I never heard that rumor,” he said.

It, however, the possibility is closed. Lovato said that, if asked by a Canadian, could accept to sing with him. “I think it would be really cool,” he said, without showing much animation.

In the singer’s latest album, “Unbroken,” she worked with Timbaland, who also is a contributor to “Believe” Justin Bieber’s next CD. In addition, Selena Gomez, girlfriend of the singer, Lovato is a friend of since childhood.

The character of Johanna in the Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire has yet to be cast, and we began wondering, what if one of the three most famous actresses, Demi Lovato played the role.

The role of Johanna Mason will be a tough one to fill.

She is sarcastic and mean-spirited. Johanna’s first meeting with Katniss involves her stripping out of her tree costume in order to make Katniss uncomfortable.

She reveals that she has no friends or family in District 7, stating “there is no one left I care about.” She won her original Hunger Games by pretending she was a weakling and a coward, so no one regarded her as a threat, but when only a few tributes remained, she revealed herself as a vicious killer.

Johanna teams up with Katniss, Peeta, and Finnick in the Quarter Quell, bringing Beetee and Wiress with her, because that was the only way to ally with Katniss. Katniss describes her presence as being akin to having an older sister who hates you. Johanna takes part in the committee to keep Katniss and Peeta alive, and helps by protecting Katniss throughout the Games. Near the end of Catching Fire she removes the tracker in Katniss’ arm by cutting it out with a knife.

Johanna is captured by the Capitol at the end of Catching Fire.

Could Demi Lovato play the role of the hardened, sarcastic and sometimes mean District 7 tribute/victor?

Note: I am assuming who plays the role in Catching Fire will play it as well in Mockingjay. • Read full story »
